I adopted Gryffen three months ago from a family that was unable to keep him. I was excited about having an adult dog and not go through all the “puppy” training. He is two and a half years old and still has a lot of puppy energy, but no potty training. I am a runner and also wanted a dog that enjoys taking long runs, so a lab mix was perfect.
The running with Gryffen was an adventure. He thought he had to lead me, stop and smell every few steps, leave his mark, and if he saw another dog he would want to stop to check them out. He just kept on smiling and did his thing. I tried to give commands, but I was giving him mix signals.
Like most of us we have to work, so I thought Gryffen being his age I could leave him alone in the house. That thought wasn’t the best. He would dig at my couch and tore into my couch cushions. One evening I came home, Gryffen didn’t know I was watching him, and he was howling. My neighbor also informed that he could hear Gryffen howling when he was left at home alone. When I saw and heard this it broke my heart and I needed to find a solution.
I tried to research it myself, but nothing was working. I found “The Dog Wizard” on line and my boss at work recommended Gretchen.
The first meeting with Gretchen, I felt that I have found the solution to my problems to make Gryffen and my life easier. After the first lesson, running with Gryffen changed one hundred percent. He respected and ran right beside me. The second lesson I was able to run with him without a leash!! The commands are simple and you don’t need a long list of different ones to say. He is able to handle distractions and listen to me when I call him. I do use the e collar and wouldn’t go any other way. My dog is able to be a dog, but we are able to live a happier life with less stress. I am happy to say the other day I left him in the house and came home to a couch that was not pulled a part. I highly recommend using “The Dog Wizard”. This training not only trains your dog, but helps train you. I feel more confident in my dog and he feels more confident in himself. Thank you Gretchen for your time and knowledge to make Gryffen a happier dog!!!!
