After a free evaluation, the trainer will educate you on the pros and cons of each method and make a professional recommendation of the style that will produce the results you desire. The most important part is NOT that your dog learns the “come" command, but that he will do it no matter what else is going on. In other words, what good is the “come" command if your dog will only perform it in a sterile environment? The same is true for all commands. For example, anyone can teach their dog to “Sit” on the kitchen floor, but can you get your dog to “Sit” at the park as other people, dogs, and kids walk by? Your dog should listen to you whether you are in your kitchen, at the local park, or in the middle of a three-ring circus. In addition, the owner plays a major role in the success of an obedience program.
